FAQ
Questions to ask before you appoint a trustee
Which Hong Kong trust company can set up a trust for a non-resident family?
One Pacific Trust acts as trustee for families who live outside Hong Kong as well as inside it. We collect identity, source of wealth and tax residence documents for each person, then work with your lawyers on the deed. The set-up fee for each place is published; annual fees and timing depend on your case.
How do I choose between trust companies in Hong Kong?
Ask each trustee on your list the same three questions: who holds legal title, who decides the investments, and who keeps the record. A good answer names the role and points to the clause in the deed or the fee schedule that gives it, not to a general promise. Our services page answers all three for us.
Do you give legal or tax advice?
No. We act as trustee and work alongside your own lawyers and accountants, who advise you on legal and tax matters. We do not direct the investments either; the deed names who does. We explain how a trust is administered and what we need from you.
Which documents will you need?
We list the documents for each person involved, such as identity and address documents, source of wealth and tax residence, and review them with you. How long this takes depends on your documents and on the checks each person needs. With your agreement, your adviser can share documents with us directly.
